We were treated to a tasty hot breakfast by Dan and Claire, and lost another round of Skip-Bo to the kids, then said our “au revoirs” to the gang, and drove off to our next destination — Carcassonne! This is a preserved/restored medieval town with the largest complete walled citadel in Europe and it’s amazing to see and explore!
We checked into our comfy Airbnb apartment in the “new town” area (new being a relative term, as it’s actually hundreds of years old) and then wandered around our neighbourhood and across the ancient stone footbridge to just below the citadel. After snapping some photos of the impressive structure, we were tuckered out, so headed home and vowed to explore the citadel more fully tomorrow!
